Lunch in a banana leaf!

This might look like vomit to some of you, the rest of you might know it as pad-Thai. Kate and I walked to a little restaurant and got pad-Thai to go and it is served in a banana leaf. Very environment friendly. Then we walked down to the 7/11 and got the Thai version of a polar pop. The pad-Thai was delicious though I only had chopsticks for utensils. I managed but I hope to get a lot better at using them. Its so cheap to eat out here. This meal was 20 baht and person which is a little more than 50 cents. It's much cheaper -- and faster -- to eat out as a single person. And the Thai food is so good. Kate is going to pick me up in a few minutes on her motorbike to go meet the other new teachers for dinner. Today I went with Kate and Supaporn (The Thai director of our school). Supaporn is a 60 year old Asian woman who gets sooo excited about everything. She is small, round and is always on the move. It was fun to greet two new teachers. One was from Holland and the other from the Philippines. It's so crazy to think that I will be working with people from all over the world. Today was my first trek out on my new bike. It will be nice to learn the traffic patterns on a bicycle because you can stop and walk on the sidewalk any time things get a little too hectic. It will be nice to learn the traffic patterns, and to drive on the left side of the road. Please pray for my safety -- Traffic is so crazy here! Life is good living in the future. Looking at the picture makes me hungry all over again, I wonder where we will go for dinner?
