100 days

I really can't believe that I have been here for 100 days -- it sounds long and short all at the same time! After coming back from India it is amazing how normal Chiang Mai feels. I honestly feel as if I am just living in another part of the states, I just cant come home. This week I watched the colts play (go bengals), drank 32 of coke zero (22 baht, not as good as deal as the polar pop), made homemade pizza and prayed with two amazing girls over coffee and good smelling candles. It is amazing to me how much of a sacrifice I first thought it was to follow the Lord to move to another country, but now I realize I sacrificed nothing other than the time with family and good friendships which you cannot replace. When he says that he will work out the details and take care of you step by step -- he was not lying. Never did I dream this... and I know I say it in every letter but God is so good.

Since the first week of school I have made my kids either give me a high five or hug at the end of the day... and the neatest thing happened last week. My little guy Oscar who at first grumbled about giving me even a high five, changed. As he was leaving class right before break I went up for a high five and he came at me with his little hand and went in for the hug. I was shocked. Now he comes at me confidently and with a smile on his face giving me a hug -- even yesterday he came in and said, "Give me a huggie!" It was cute that I caught him say this without him thinking about it. He is Mr. tough guy usually who knows all the rules and bosses other kids around -- but something is breaking through to this little guy. I think they are starting to realize how much I love them. He is also the kid who I have to keep on task all day -- but I love him more and more!

Those of you Young Lifers might like to know that today while my kids were working on a project I played for them the "Pankake and Friends" sound track. Yes, I told them about 8th street and how sweet IU is. They also enjoyed "Put it in a cone" and thought that was funny. They think that Pankake and friends needs to go on a tour and make a cd. So if you could pass that on to dave that would be great. I also played for them the James Mann version of "jingle bell rock" and they were like, but Miss. Sara those aren't the right words. And they were exactly right. If you dont a copy of that song -- find it. It's great. The rest of my day the kids rocked the the Jack Johnson Curious George sound track. What can I say my classroom is sweet.

Well, that is a the life of a 4th grade teacher... I really do love my job. Thanks for praying and I can't wait (really) to see you all in June!
